The Spotlight: Now a director, here's the one Aaron Sorkin film he wishes he could go back and work on
Being one of Hollywood's top screenwriters wasn't enough for Aaron Sorkin.
The Oscar winner makes his directorial debut with the upcoming "Molly's Game," starring Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba.
Now that's he had a taste at helming a film, Sorkin was asked which of his previous works he wishes he could go back and direct.
"Well, I'm very happy that the directors that directed the things I've done in the past, did," Sorkin told Jake Hamilton of FOX 32 Chicago. "They were the best directors for those movies, but if you want me to answer your question, my very first movie, 'A Few Good Men.'"
Directed by Rob Reiner, the 1992 film starred Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore and centered around a military judicial case involving two U.S. Marines who are court-martialed for the murder of a third.
First a play, Sorkin's first drafts were actually written out on bar napkins while he worked as a bartender in the late 80's.
"It's the writing," says Sorkin. "It was my starter movie. It was the first play that I wrote. It was my starter play. It was the first screenplay that I wrote and I would love to have it back and write it again. I'd love to be able to step in there and give some notes. But again, that said, I thought Rob Reiner did a magnificent job."
"Molly's Game" is due to release Dec. 25.
