The Spotlight: Here's the character Rian Johnson wishes he could bring into 'Star Wars' now that Disney owns Fox
Disney's toy box got even bigger Thursday with the official word that it will purchase major stakes in 21st Century Fox for a little over $52 billion.
Fox has long-held the rights to some major Marvel characters and fans are drooling over the prospect of seeing them finally enveloped into the MCU.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has his own massive sandbox to roll around in but even he couldn't help but be giddy over the news. At the premier for his film, Johnson was asked which character he'd hypothetically love to steal away from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.
"I saw my buddy Jim Mangold here somewhere who did Logan, the brilliant Wolverine movie," Johnson says. "So maybe we can get Jim in here to bring Logan into the Star Wars universe. Bring Wolverine in there.
"Not really! Please don't blow up Reddit with actual theories of that. Not for real."
Welp, we can dare to dream. Having seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi, a little Wolverine could have helped. Just sayin'.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens Dec. 15, 2017.

We’re disappointed in the decision to gut #NetNeutrality protections that ushered in an unprecedented era of innovation, creativity & civic engagement. This is the beginning of a longer legal battle. Netflix stands w/ innovators, large & small, to oppose this misguided FCC order.

I loved #TheLastJedi! It hit all the right notes for me, and seeing it in the Chinese Theater, surrounded by my fellow nerds was glorious. The Force was with us.
