LeBron James saw co-star Kyrie Irving leave town to become the main man for the Boston Celtics. What he got back for the Cavs was another stud in Isaiah Thomas, but he went straight to the injury list and hasn’t seen a minute on the floor this season.

The obvious lack of time on the court together means James and Thomas lose the chance to grow their on-court chemistry. As a result, strengths and weakness as a duo are largely unknown.

While Thomas is near a return, running almost full scrimmages in practice, he still doesn’t have any in-game experience with James. So what does LeBron do? He plays “NBA 2K” because it’s the closest thing he can get to playing with his real teammate.

"It’s the most realistic basketball game you could ever play,” James told reporters. “I mix and match a lot of lineup changes to see how we can be really good."

You have to love how technology can assure one of the best basketball players ever that his injured teammate has strengths on a team he hasn’t even played for. It’s equally impressive that James is studying up while also throwing down some time on the PS4 or Xbox.

Now I wish he had shared his gamertag so I can jump in and school him because there’s no damn way I’d be able to do it real life.
